William Green (Willie) SCOTT was born ^[1] on 22 Jul 1867 in Rockwall, Kaufman, Texas, USA. He died in 18 Mar 1931 in Rockwall, Rockwall, Texas. ^[2] He was buried ^[3] in Rockwall Cemetery, Rockwall, Rockwall, Texas.

William Green Scott was the first born of John and Sarah Jacks Scott. In 1870 a sister, Fannie (Holt) was born.

W.G. Scott was an outstanding member of the First Christian Church of Rockwall. ^[4]

His maternal grandparents were Green B. Jacks ( Kentucky, 1820) and Lovina Jacks (Missouri, 1825-1887). Lovina Jacks is buried in the Rockwall Cemetery. Mr. Jacks is listed in the 1870 Kaufman County census as a wheelwright. ^[3]

After the death of this father, his mother married H.D. Lanham, eventually giving Bill Scott two half brothers, Curtis and T. B. and two half- sisters, Mollie (Welborn) and Alma (Corley).

When "Bill" was six years old, Rockwall county was organized. ^[3]

As a young man, Bill helped to haul rock from the quarry north of Rockwall to be used in building the courthouse. According to R.E. Gaines, the land on which the courthouse now stands was donated by some of Bill Scotts' ancestors. ^[3]

William married ^[3] (1) Lula Francis LANHAM daughter of Thomas Benton LANHAM and Sarah E. (Sally) GRIFFITH on 17 Mar 1887 in Rockwall, Rockwall, Texas, USA. ^[5] Lula was born in 1868 in ,, Georgia, USA. She died in Oct 1903 in Rockwall, Rockwall, Texas, USA. She was buried ^[3] in Rockwall Cemetery, Rockwall, Rockwall, Texas. ^[3]

They had the following children:

(i.) Daughter, Jessie B. SCOTT was born in 2 Nov 1880.^[6] She died 15 June 1973 in Rockwall, Rockwall, Texas, USA.^[6] She was buried ^[7] in Rockwall Cemetery, Rockwall, Rockwall, Texas. There is a strong likelihood that Jessie B. Scott, buried next to Lula F Scott and Willie G. Scott is their daughter, although her birth date is prior to their marriage. ^[3]

(ii.) Daughter, Lucy SCOTT was born in 1890. She died in 1966. She married Elmer Harn, who was born 1892. Lucy Scott Harn and Elmer Harn were the parents of eleven children, two of whom died in infancy. Lucy and Elmer moved to the Martha, Oklahoma area in the 1920’s, then back to the Lewisville, Texas area about 1930. Lucy died 1966, and Elmer died 1958 and both are buried at Lewisville, Texas. Lucy and Elmer Harn had 11 children, six daughter and three sons and twins that died at birth. See The Elmer Harn Family for details. ^[3]

(iii.) Son, John Thalton (Buster) SCOTT was born on 12 Jul 1894. He died on 02 Feb 1951 and married Julia Peavy. Buster died 2 February 1951. ^[3]

(iv.) Son, Bennie Griffith (Ben) SCOTT was born on 01 Dec 1897. Ben died on 06 Nov 1984. He married Jessie Fowler of Martha, Oklahoma. Jessie was born 27 April 1908. Ben and Jessie lived in the Martha area for a time before moving to Fort Worth (Handley), Texas. Ben worked for the Texas Highway Department for years before retiring. ^[3]

(v.) Son, Estes Dee SCOTT was born on 04 Dec 1901. He died on 07 Oct 1977 in Dallas, Dallas, Texas, USA. He was buried in Dallas, Texas. He married Venus Hamilton of Martha, Oklahoma, where they lived several years before moving to Coppell, Texas. Venus was born 27 December 1901. Her father was a pioneer of Martha and operated a blacksmith shop there for years. Estes died 7 October 1977, and Venus died 2 February 1975, and both are buried at Dallas, Texas. ^[3]

(vi.) Otis Oscar SCOTT was born in 1888. He died in 1950. He married Mary Lee Dorsey, who was born 1879. Mary Lee, a sister of Jessie Bell Dorser. Otis died 1950 and Mary Lee died 1965, and both are buried at Rockwell.

William Green Scott married (2) Jessie Bell DORSEY ^[8], the daughter of Calvin P. DOREY and Patsey (maiden name unknown) in 1906. William and Jessie had four children: Powell, Edna, Earle, and Leon. For a time the family resided on a farm north of Rockwall. His eldest son farmed while Willie Scott was engaged in real estate. At one time around 1911-12 he owned and operated the Elite Barbershop on Rusk Street where getting a bath was as important as a shave or haircut. Jessie was a sister of Mary Lee Dorsey who married Otis Oscar Scott, was born in Texas 1880. ^[3]

William G. and Jessie had the following children:

(vii.) Son, William Powell SCOTT was born in 1908 in Rockwall, Rockwall, Texas, USA. He died in 1957. William married Rhea SEVERSON about 1933. Rhea was born about 1911. They had no children. ^[3]

(viii.) Daughter, Edna Earle SCOTT was born in 1911 in Rockwall, Rockwall, Texas, USA. She devoted thirty -five years of her life to teaching career. She had no children. She died in 1995 and is buried in Rockwall, Rockwall, Texas, USA. ^[3]

(ix.) Daughter, Edith Marie SCOTT was born in 1913. Edith Marie died in 1975. She married Clayton C. Cummings . ^[3]

The Scotts, the Lanham’s, the Jacks and the Dorseys all are important names in extricably woven into the history of Rockwall County.^[9]
