Thomas Benton LANHAM ^[1] was born on 09 Jan 1844 in , Andrew, Missouri, USA. He died on 08 Jul 1918 in Rockwall, Rockwall, Texas, USA. He was buried ^[2] in Rockwall Cemetery, Rockwall, Rockwall, Texas.

Unconfirmed information indicated that Thomas Benton was in the Civil War. It is assumed that he met Sara E. in Georgia, married and lived in Georgia until the early 1870’s when they moved to the Rockwall, Texas area. Confederate records indicate a Thomas B. Lanham, TX 18th Cav. CoC.

Thomas married ^[3] (1) Sarah E. (Sally) GRIFFITH ^[2] ^[4] daughter of John GRIFFITH and Francis about 1869 of , , Georgia, USA. Sarah was born in 1837 in ,, Georgia, USA. She died in 1904 in Rockwall, Rockwall, Texas, USA. She was buried in Rockwall Cemetery, Rockwall, Texas.

Francis Griffith, is listed on the 1880 Rockwall Co. census as Mother-in-Law, living with the Thomas Benton Lanham family. Francis was born 15 April 1801 and died 26 February 1881 as is buried at Rockwall, Texas. Sarah E. GRIFFITH died in 1904 and is buried at Rockwall, Texas.

Thomas and Sarah E. had the following children:

(i.) Son, John Thomas LANHAM was born in Aug 1864 in ,, Georgia, USA. He died in 1930 in Rockwall, Rockwall, Texas, USA. He was buried ^[2] in Rockwall Cemetery, Rockwall, Rockwall, Texas. We understand that he was afflicted and never married.

(ii.) Daughter, Lula Francis LANHAM was born in 1868 in ,, Georgia, USA. She died in Oct 1903 in Rockwall, Rockwall, Texas, USA. She was buried ^[2] in Rockwall Cemetery, Rockwall, Rockwall, Texas. Lula married ^[2] William Green (Willie) SCOTT son of John SCOTT and Sarah Green JACKS on 17 Mar 1887 in Rockwall, Rockwall, Texas, USA. William was born ^[5] on 22 Jul 1867 in Rockwall, Kaufman, Texas, USA. He died in 1931 in Rockwall, Rockwall, Texas, USA. He was buried ^[2] in Rockwall Cemetery, Rockwall, Rockwall, Texas. Lula Francis and Willie had one daughter; Lucy, and four sons; Otis Oscar, John Thalton (Buster), Bennie Griffith and Estes Dee Scott. Lula Francis died October 1903 and is buried at Rockwall. (iii.) Daughter, Louisa LANHAM ^[6] was born about 1871 in ,, Georgia. Louisa married Alva COVEY.

After Sarah E. died, Thomas Benton married No. (2) Sarah Jane FARMER, ^[7] daughter of Isham FARMER ^[7] and . Sarah J. was born 01 Oct 1844, and they had no children. Sarah J. died 23 Aug 1933 ^[7] ^[8] and is buried at Rockwall.

The Texas Confederate Pension law went into effect in 1899, Mrs. Sarah J. Lanham filed for pension No. 41511, Rockwall Co., the application was rejected. This information on file at the Texas State Archives in Austin.
