John Lanham 1661 (our line) (see The John Lanham Family 1661) → Richard Lanham 1697

Richard Lanham was born about 1697 in Prince Georges, Maryland. He died in 1750 in Prince Georges, Maryland.

Richard married Winnifred JENKINS, daughter of Emoch Jenkins (d. abt 1734). Winnifred died in 1771.

Richard held patents on land called, "Hap Hazard", "Strife", "Lanham’s folly" and others. On February 26, 1738, Richard Lanham and wife Winifred deeded one hundred acres, more or less to each of three daughters: Rachel, wife of Ign. Mitchell of Charles County; Charity, wife of Thomas Blacklock of Prince George’s County and Elizabeth, wife of Wm. Hardy of Prince George’s County.

Richard Lanham, Planter of Prince George’s County, Maryland, deeds to Thomas Blacklock, Planter of same county and state, March 5 1750 and recorded March 20, 1750, 90 acres of land called Dickinson’s Park, Lying in Frederick County, Maryland, part of a tract called "Addition to the Remains", containing one hundred acres, more or less. Winifred Lanham, wife of Richard Lanham [1]

Richard Lanham, Planter of Prince George’s County, Maryland, deeds to Zachariah Lanham, Planter of the same County and State, deed dated March 5, 1750, and recorded March 20, 1750, for Love and Affection that he hath and doth bear unto the said Zachariah Lanham as also for the sum of five shillings sterling………all that part of a tract of land called part of the Addition to Remains", situate in Frederick County, Maryland, near a place called the head of Captain John’s Run, containing one hundred acres more or less. Winifred Lanham, wife of Richard. [2]

From the two deeds above we assume Richard died prior to March 5, 1750. Winifred’s Will Executor. Dated January 2 1770, probated November 27, 1771 [3] states:

I, Winifred Lanham of Prince George's County give my Negro Lucy, Mary, Charity and Moses to be released after my death and the money to be equally divided among my children here under mentioned: Edward, Rachel Mitchell, Mary Lanham, Benedict Hardy, Justinian Burch and Ann Clements, the said Burch and Clements to have but one equal part between them. Charity Blacklock, Eliz Crayton and Anastatius McDonald excepted. To my grandson Benedict Hardy 183 lbs of tobacco that is in the hands of my daughter, Mary Lanham; to my grandchildren Richard Jenkins, Mary Fry, John Jenkins, Wm. Jenkins, Josias Jenkins and Winifred Jenkins the remainder of my estate, equally divided among them. Son Richard, sole
