Son, Josias Lanham II was born 19 October 1628, and married Catherine (Katherine) (maiden name unknown) 9 December 1652.

They had at least four children:

  • Daughter, Rueth, baptized 24 Feb 1655; Ruth died 6 Feb 1656/7.

  • Daughter, Mary, baptized 13 June 1658.

  • Son, Josiah baptized 27 Nov 1653.

  • Son, Stephen, baptized, 12 Jan 1660/1.

Josias‘ wife, Catherine, was buried 18 December 1684. Josias was buried 5 January 1702/03.

Josias Lanham II, (son of Josia October 1628), was born 9 Nov. 1653, in Wortham, Suffolk County and was baptized 17 November 1653; and lived in Burgate, England. Josias Lanham and others were imported into the Province of Maryland in November 1668, to settle by Samuel Withers of Anne Arundel County. Withers received fifty acres of land as a headright for each person he brought over to develop the new country. After fulfilling his obligation of contract and becoming a free man, Josias made claim to fifty acres due him for his services in 1680. He settled on his new land east of the Chesapeake Bay in Kent County. He married Barbara Ringgold of Kent County ca 1680.

Lanham, Josias (Kent County) Md ensign in a company of foot, commissioned 28 Feb 1681, he was noted as my Major’s 'sonne in Law' by Col. Henry Coursey in his letter to Maryland Council in 1681, name mispelled once as "Josias Lankam"; constable, 1684, born circa 1649 (age abt. 35 when deposed in 1684) [1]

Josias died ca 1695. After Josias death Barbara remarried about 1700. When she remarried (an Edward Blay of Cecil Co., MD) the estate she inherited from Josias reverted to their son, Edward, est. 1700. (info from Suffolk Co and village of Wortham per Alison West)

About 1702/03, Josias‘ grandson, Edward, disposed of all the properties on the east side of the Bay and moved to the west side, Charles County.

Josias II and Barbara had three children: Edward, Barbara and Josias Lanham.

  1. Edward Lanham, born 28 February 1733/34 and had three spouses.

  2. Barbara Lanham married a Robert Lusby, 1725

  3. Josias Lanham married Susannah Drew 1720. Josias died 1728. Susannah was the administrator of the estate.[2]
