The Hiram Demarcus Lanham Family 1845
Hiram Demarcus (Henry) LANHAM was born on 19 Sep 1845 in of , Andrew, Missouri, USA. He died on 29 Dec 1920 in Henrietta, Clay, Texas, USA. He was buried in Henrietta, Clay, Texas, USA. He was a son of Curtis Harden and Margaret L. (Chandler) Lanham.
Hiram married Sarah Green JACKS daughter of Green Berry JACKS and Lovinia ARNICK [2] about 1874 in Rockwall, Rockwall, Texas. Sarah was born on 16 May 1849 in , Andrew, Missouri, USA. She died on 01 Sep 1926 in Bowie, Montague, Texas [2], USA. She was buried in Henrietta, Clay, Texas, 35 minutes from Bowie.
Sallie had previously married John Scott ca 1866 and they had one son and one daughter; William Green Scott and Fannie Scott. John Scott died and we understand he is buried in a private cemetery north of Rockwall, Texas. Lovina Jacks died 1887 and is buried at Rockwall.
Henry D. and Sallie lived just north of Rockwall until 1906 or 1907 when they moved to Jolly, Clay County, Texas.
H.D. Lanham’s family were members of the Church of Christ which had been formed between 1860 and 1865. Interestingly, this is the first recorded indication of a Lanham belonging to a specific church here in the USA. The early Lanham’s of Maryland most likely were of the Church of England. When Thomas Berry and family departed Rockwall and moved to Martha, OK there was no Church of Christ in Martha, so they joined the Martha Methodist Church.[4]
Henry D. died 29 December 1920 and Sallie died 1 September 1926 and both buried at Henriette, Clay County, Texas. The graves are located almost directly in front of the entrance of the cemetery.
Hiram Demarcus (Henry D.) and Sallie had two sons and two daughters; Curtis Harden, Mary Jane, Thomas Berry and Alma E. Lanham.
(i.) Son, Curtis Harden LANHAM was born on 06 Apr 1875 in Rockwall, Rockwall, Texas, USA. He died on 17 Mar 1938 in Waurika, Jefferson, Oklahoma, USA. He was buried in Waurika, Jefferson, Oklahoma, USA. Curtis married Julia (Jessie) DAY [5] on 01 Nov 1899 in Rockwall, Rockwall, Texas, USA. Julia was born in 1881. She died on 02 Aug 1935. She was buried in Waurika, Jefferson, Oklahoma, USA. Curt and Julia moved to Jolly, Texas and then to the area of Martha, Okla., in the 1920’s, before moving to Waurika, Jefferson Co., Oklahoma. Julia was born in Texas 10 Febuary 1881. Curt and Julia had four daughters and one son; Ruby Dee, Opal Green, Myrtle May, William Curtis and Mildred Helen Lanham.

(ii.) Mary Jane (Mollie) LANHAM was born on 01 Sep 1880 in Rockwall, Rockwall, Texas, USA. She died on 10 Feb 1951 in Rockwall, Rockwall, Texas, USA. She was buried in Rockwall, Texas.

(iii.) Thomas Berry (T.B.) LANHAM was born on 29 Mar 1882 in Rockwall, Rockwall, Texas, USA. He died on 20 Jun 1971 in Altus, Jackson, Oklahoma, USA. He was buried in Martha,, Oklahoma, USA. Thomas married Mattie Elizabeth ASHLEY [7]26 daughter of Cassandra Minerva Jane SISK on 15 Nov 1903 in Rockwall, Rockwall, Texas, USA. Mattie was born on 14 Nov 1880 in Bean Creek, Franklin, Tennessee, USA. She died on 26 Nov 1972 in Altus, Jackson, Oklahoma, USA. She was buried in Martha, Jackson, Oklahoma, USA. Daughter, Alma Earl LANHAM was born on 5 March 1887 in Rockwall, Rockwall, Texas, USA.[8] She died on 04 April 1936 in Vernon, Wilbarger, Texas, USA.[8] She was buried in Vernon, Wilbarger, Texas, USA. Alma married John H. CORLEY about 1909. John was born about 1884. They had the following children: (1) J.W. Corley, died shortly after birth. (2) Henry D. Corley, and (3) Mamie Faye Corley.
