The Lazarus Rufus Jones Family
Lazurus Rufus Jones 1869 → Perry Rufus Jones 1915 → Living Person
Lazarus Rufus Jones was the 10th known child of Alfred N. Jones and Martha P. Wood Jones, and was the youngest son that survived. Lazarus was born in the community of Texas, in Heard County, Georgia, and lived there until about sometime prior to 1920.
Lazarus Rufus (LR) Jones, born 6 August 1869 and died 13 Feb. 1930. [1]
LR Jones is on the 1920 U.S. Census for Roanoke, Randolph County, Alabama with Lizzie and all his living children except Beulah ,Willie Lee, and Dewey. The girls were married, and Dewey had apparently left home.
On 21 Sep 1889 in , Troup, Georgia, L.R. Jones was married to Sarah Ann Elizabeth (Lizzie) Kitchens Jones (dau. of Andrew Jackson Kitchens), born 4 March 1875 [2] and died 22 Nov 1955. [2]
The family land was in Texas, GA., but over the years some moved to Roanoke, Alabama. LR Jones owned a grocery store in downtown Roanoke. They owned land at 1014 East Main St. where the family home was located. Alon and Perry also had homes down the street from the family home. Many of the LR Jones family are buried in Texas, GA.
Lazarus Rufus and Sarah had fifteen children:

(i.) Daughter, Beulah Francis JONES, b. Jul. 7, 1890 [4] [5], in Texas, Heard, Georgia, USA, died May 22, 1976 [5] [4], in La Grange, Troup, Georgia, USA. She married Luther H. Cook (Sep. 12, 1887, Feb. 24, 1972). [5] He is buried at Mount Zion Cemetery, Oxford, Newton, Georgia, USA
(ii.) Willie Lee JONES (Ridley Brooks), b. Jul. 28, 1892 [6], Texas, Heard, Georgia, USA. She married Ales Everette Ridley on 24 Dec 1913 in Heard Co., GA and divorced about 1925. She later married Man Brooks. She died Aug., 1988 [6], in Chattanooga, Hamilton, Tennessee, USA and is buried at Oakland Cemetery, Atlanta, Fulton, Georgia, USA.
(iii.) Daughter, b. 11 Feb1895, d. 26 Aug 1896;
(iv.) Daughter, Alva JONES b. 22 April 1897, d.19 Sep 1899;
(v.) Son, Dewey Hobson JONES b. 29 April 1899 [7] in Texas, Heard, Georgia, USA.; d. 19 Jul 1978 [7] in Roanoke, Randolph, Alabama, USA. He married Duffie Eva Cook Jones ( Oct. 2, 1900 - Apr. 5, 1988). She is buried at Prospect Methodist Church Cemetery, Franklin, Heard, Georgia, USA.
(vi.) Daughter, Lena JONES b.13 April 1901, d.9Aug 1913;
(vii.) Daughter, Connie Lou JONES b. 17 May 1903 d.__;
(viii.) Daughter, Hattie Lois JONES born 26 Feb. 1905 [8] in Heard, Georgia, USA and died Jul. 30, 1994 [8] in Antioch, Covington, Alabama, USA. She is buried at Oakland Cemetery, Atlanta, Fulton, Georgia, USA. She married Herbert L. Harris.
(ix.) Son, Fuller Callaway JONES Senior, b. 9 Mar. 1907 in Heard, Georgia; d. 7 Nov. 1953 in Opelika, Lee, Alabama. He married Ruth Henrietta Matthews on 17 Jun 1931 in Roanoke, Randolph, AL. He is buried in the Cedarwood Cemetery, Roanoke, Randolph, Alabama. [9]
(x.) Daughter, Mytle JONES, b.7 Dec. 1908, d.12 Dec1908
(xi.) Son, Loyd Carter JONES, b. 2 Nov. 1908 in Texas, Heard, Georgia, d. 14 Aug. 1930 in Roanoke, Randolph, Alabama. He married Maggie Ruth Brown about 1929. Died in a motorcycle accident. [10]
(xii.) Son, Oscar Underwood JONES, b.15 Jan. 1912 in Georgia, d. 19 Jan. 1961. He married Inez (maiden name unknown), born in Alabama.
(xiii.) Son, Alon Jackson JONES, b.16 Nov. 1913 in Texas, Heard, Georgia [11] [12] Alon died 8 Mar. 1963 [12] in Troup, Georgia. He is buried at Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke, Randolph, Alabama. On 20 Dec 1935, Alon married Mae Belle Clark, daughter of Oscar and Wylie Ann Smith Clark, born 25 Feb 1914 [11] [13] in Alabama. Her mother, Anna Clark lived with them in 1940 at 1012 East Main Street, Roanoke, AL.

(xiv.) Perry Rufus JONES, b. 29 Oct. 1915 d.9 Sept. 1965;
(xvi.) Daughter, Annie Ruth JONES, b.13 Oct. 1917. As of 2006, Anne resided in Andalusia, Alabama.
LR Jones was a Freemason. Lazarus was also a member of the Baptist church.
Lazarus relocated his family about 1920 from Texas, Georgia to Roanoke, Alabama.
LR Jones was buried at the Prospect Methodist Church Cemetery, Heard Co., GA
