According to Fuller C. Jones, Alfred was a large land owner in Heard county, Georgia.

Alfred married Martha Prudence WOOD daughter of Winston WOOD and Dicey GAY on 10 Jan 1850 in , Heard, Georgia. Martha was born on 29 Jan 1833 ^[3] in , Heard, Georgia, USA. She died on 19 Mar 1924 ^[4] in , Heard, Georgia, USA. She was buried in Old New Hope (Baptist) Cemetery, Texas, Georgia.

Martha P. Wood Jones is buried with her husband in the Old New Hope Cemetery in Texas, Heard County, Georgia. The Stone is a short "Tablet" type, beside her husband’s tall monument, with inscription. Martha’s inscription is barely readable as of May, 2000: "A tender mother and a faithful - - - - - - (friend?)". The date on the stone for birth is Feb 29 1833, meaning we suppose that it was a leap year, and the date is legible; however by "Custom Calendar" ^[5] 1833 was not a leap year, and only had 28 days. The death date on the stone is Mar 19 1924, which is legible as well.

(i.) Son, Winston Wood JONES was born on 12 Dec 1850. He died in 1907.

(ii.) Son, William T. JONES was born on 10 Jul 1853. He died on 16 Dec 1856.

(iii.) Son, Willis Byrd JONES was born on 09 Aug 1855. He died on 15 Feb 1922.

(iv.) Son, James Madison JONES , (II) was born on 09 Oct 1857. He died in 1933.

(v.) Son, Henry Romaldrus JONES was born on 03 Mar 1860. He died on 07 Nov. He was buried in Buried Wood Family Cemetery (Ivan Allen Ranch).

(vi.) Daughter, Eva Tabitha JONES was born on 15 Oct 1861. She died on 20 Mar 1903.

(vii.) Son, Alfred Britton JONES was born on 06 Oct 1863 in Heard Co. Georgia. He died in 1934.

(viii.) Francis D. JONES ^[6] was born on 20 Nov 1865 in Heard Co., Georgia. He died on 06 Aug 1866 in Heard Co. Georgia. He is buried in Wood Cemetery.

(ix.) Son, Jonathan Brewer JONES was born on 23 Sep 1867 in Heard Co. Georgia. He died in 1940 in Merkel, Taylor, Texas, USA. Jonathan married Nancy Virginia (Sena) WOOD after 1879. Nancy died in Texas.

(x.) Daughter, Martha Mildred JONES was born on 12 Jan 1872. She died on 10 Sep 1876 in Heard Co., Georgia. She was buried in Wood Family Cemetery.
