Primary

We had the primary (little kids) program today in church, where the 4-11 year olds sing to the congregation. There about 40 children in the program. Their sweet, almost angelic voices were moving.

Their little faces were earnest. Most were 100% engaged and only a few seemed worried bout everyone watching them. The 11-year olds seemed self-conscious in a way not experienced by those younger.

Their little personalities already show through. It was heart warming. One of the adult leaders said they were getting ice cream afterwards to help entice them all to sit nicely during the 30-min program. Some still had the wiggles.

Some of the youngest ones forgot their lines and an adult had to whisper into their ear. One grabbed the microphone too close to his mouth and his voice boomed startlingly loud.

You can see and hear the influence of their family on them. Listening to them sing about faith in Jesus Christ and listening to the Holy Ghost was nice.

The 11-yr olds had a mic on the side. One boy when finished with his part, tried to pull the mic to pass to his right, but the cord was already fully extended. It took them a few seconds to realize they would have to trade places for it to work. It was humorous to see that bit of on-the-fly coordination.

The entire primary stayed together in one voice mostly. Only once did they start to drift into different tempos before they corrected and unified again.

They are growing and learning. What a wonderful experience today. Jesus invited the children to come into him when he walked here among us mortals. I have learned from our children and their examples perhaps more than they have learned from us.
