Experimenting with Ink Containers for Travel

I saw these aluminum bottles on Amazon and ordered them from China for $1.67 USD. They took so long to arrive (a month), that I forgot I had ordered them.

One of the caps got bent during shipping (upper right in figure 1) and did not include a cap liner, so I did not start with that bottle.

The other bottle survived shipping in great shape. Next I put plumbers PTFE tape on the threads thinking that if the tape works for plumbing it should work for ink.

Then I put water in it and turned it upside-down overnight (9 hours). No leaks. Yay!

The little bottles are 40 ml and about 3 inches (7 cm) long.

The opening is 2 cm wide, enough to get all my fountain pens inside for a refill.

The only downside is that you can’t see through the side walls to judge how far in to hold the pen while refilling.
